9. Select "GXLiterate.oxt".

13. Enter the proxy details if required and select the language for Transliteration. Click "Save and Close" button.

One of the UI element that is missing in Calc compare to Excel 2003 is the thousands separator button on the toolbar. The button will format the numbers in the currently selected cell(s) using a predefined (accounting) format. Though Calc users can do the same using the menu Format > Cell but the converted Excel users usually miss the convenience and ask for the feature.
After installing this simple extension (and restart), you'll see a comma button near the percent button on the Formatting toolbar in Calc. It implements the same behavior as in Excel, e.g. :-
100 -> 100.00
1000 -> 1,000.00
-100 -> (100.00)
-1000 -> (1,000.00)
0 -> -
The only exception is that it will not align the decimal points which is currently not possible in Calc. The format code used is "#,##0.00;(#,##0.00);-#". Comments for improvement of the extension are welcome.

]]>Interleaved 2 Of 5 is a specialized barcode format that only allows numbers. If your not sure what barcode format you need (ie your doing generic barcoding) I would suggest using a completely alpha-numeric symbology, such as Code 128 instead.
The barcode produced is created in the Interleaved 2 of 5 symbology. This symbology encodes numbers only, and as it interleaves the data within the bars and the spaces, can only create barcodes of even lengths. (ie 0101 would encode, 010 would not.) The function accepts two parameters. The first is an integer value that tells the function to automatically pad the string to encode with a leading 0 if it is not an even length (this is acceptable based on the I2OF5 specification.) To allow padding, enter a 1 for this parameter. To receive an error (forcing you to check the number to be encoded,) enter a 0 for this parameter. The second parameter is the string of numbers to be encoded.
The function returns characters that when changed to the included barcode font will produce working I2OF5 barcodes.
When added to a mail / label merge, this tool is invaluable to anyone that needs a lot of I2OF5 barcode, fast.

]]>WiRWiB provides two levels of language assistance. First it suggests synonyms from the WordNet®. Secondly it also describes the correct usage of the words with examples. This information is obtained from the usage description and examples provided by WordNet®. WiRWiB does not require the user to explicitly invoke it for every typed word. Once enabled using a toggle button on the OpenOffice.org toolbar, it continues to query the WordNet® database and prompt the user with the usage and synonym information about the word. The prompts are non intrusive and do not interfere the user's work at hand.
WiRWiB is hence very unique in its persistent (user does not have to invoke it explicitly for every word) and non-intrusive way of providing writing assistance to users. Since a user might not be aware of the possibility of using a better word, it is a good idea to prompt the user with the available options.

EuroOffice My Progress can be activated on a per-document basis by activating the Track My Progress menu item in the Tools menu. This menu item can also be used to disable EuroOffice My Progress for the document and remove all the tracking data.
When active, EuroOffice My Progress stores the word count and paragraph count once a minute. The progress data is stored inside the document.
The Display My Progress menu item in the Tools menu is enabled when tracking is turned on. This menu item generates a report of your progress on the current document. The report contains four charts and the data for these charts: the word count and the paragraph count in both a day-by-day view and a minute-by-minute view for the current day.

You need to have an active internet connection to be able to search for and download images. The images are embedded in your document (not linked).
The source of the images is Wikimedia Commons. Almost all of the images can be used freely, but many require proper attribution. EuroOffice Online Clipart automatically inserts the images with a caption that attributes the image to the author as named on the Wikimedia Commons page and links to its web page. For many images this is enough, but it is best to check the web page of the image and take a look at the license terms to make sure. ]]>Sparklines are simple things and now creating them is simple too. Just select the data series you want to use as the basis of the sparkline and click EuroOffice Sparkline in the Insert menu. Additional details of the sparkline can be customized in the EuroOffice Sparkline dialog. Sparklines can be augmented with small dots that mark the start and end of the line and high or low points of the line.
These dots are conventionally colored red for the start and end and blue for the maximum and minimum values.
These colors help you associate numerical information with the data points as in the example to the right.
Sparklines can be used to great effect in charts, but also in text. An example of this can be found in the EuroOffice Sparkline manual.

Just install the extension, open up an Impress or Draw document and go to File->Export and select either PNG, JPG or GIF. After selecting a location and a file name press save. The new dialog should pop up.

You cannot select add-on dictionaries on a per document basis, however you can disable/enable the dictionary via the Tools->Extension Manager (I think you need to restart OpenOffice for the change to take effect.)
]]>The generators creates three database objects.
1)The SWITCHBOARD table which has some basic information about the switchboard such as size and location of main form as well as size and positioning of menu entries.
2)The SWITCHBOARDITEMS table which has the menu entries configuration information.
3)The SWITCHBOARD form. This is a blank form generated by the wizard, and is populated with the menu entries. This form document can be modified by the user—keeping in mind that the menu entries need to be positioned at runtime.
All these items are generated automatically when the extension main hook is launched, and that database document does not have said objects. The main hook can be accessed through the Tools | Add-ons | OpenOffice.org Base Switchboard menu option. The extension can only be opened from a Registered Base document.
Currently, there are four types of menu entries that can be generated. Forms, Reports, Switchboards, and Switchboard Links. The Form and Report entries open a form or report, respectively. At runtime, the difference between a Switchboard and Switchboard Link is trivial. A Switchboard is an entry that appears as the parent of other entries (a menu). A Switchboard Link is an entry that links to another Switchboard menu—but does not have entries; this is usefully to get back to another menu (such as main menu) from an entry that may be nested somewhere down the hierarchy.
A Database form or report need not be located in the database where the Switchboard is located. This feature makes it possible to have a main switchboard that gives access to forms and reports from any number of databases.

It works in OpenOffice Writer so is available for all text documents. It's indispensable if you write in more than one language, and invaluable even if you work only in English (as long as you would like to be able to write résumé or Götterdämmerung or Łódź or use «» or ± or °C in your work without struggling to insert the non-English characters).
There are currently around 180 characters available through a single shortcut key, covering most European languages using a Latin alphabet, and including such oddities as the Turkish dotless ı and the Spanish upside down question mark ¿ and the German double-s ß and the Icelandic thorn Þ and so on. The latest version also includes most upper and lower case Greek letters, and some common mathematical symbols.

I'm a prizewinning writer. That, and five bucks, will get me a cuppa joe at the local Starbucks.
My debut student film was widely hailed as "the most uncommercial piece of ____ in Michigan State's history."
The film was purchased by ABC-TV's groundbreaking cyberpunk series, Max Headroom.
But do you remember Max? Nobody else does, either.
I also coauthored a book on screenwriting that was featured at the Whitney Biennial.
It tells the tale of how I met a Hungarian woman on the Internet and wrote a screenplay with her via eMail.
It also contains a bunch of the short stories that I eMailed, trying to impress her.
We eventually met face-to-face, got married, and lived happily ever after.
But the book was a dismal commercial failure and resounding critical flop.
From time to time, I advertise my services as a script doctor.
There are precious few takers.
I created my first screenplay processing system, a WordPerfect shareware extension, in 1995.
The software had tons of bells and whistles.
It was a four-star Editors' Pick at ZDNet (Ziff-Davis) and generated a five-figure offer from WordPerfect's parent company.
The offer evaporated when Corel took over.
As WordPerfect's version numbers got higher, my formatters became more and more complex.
While writing my own scripts, I enjoyed playing with all those bells and whistles.
But I eventually realized they were just distracting me from the task at hand.
I mean, most screenwriters (99.9%) don't need to keep track of scene numbers or A/B pages.
All we really need, to write a spec script, is a template to keep us from coloring outside the lines.
So I reluctantly decided it was time to abandon the bells and whistles. Besides, nobody uses WordPerfect anymore.
That's when I put together a free, no-nonsense screenwriting template for Word.
Then someone pointed out that Microsoft was starting to charge fees for "free" Word packages bundled with new computers.
And that by making Word more attractive to screenwriters, I was indirectly helping to enrich Bill Gates.
At that point, I created this basic, easy-to-use, free screenplay template for the OpenOffice.org Writer program (also free).
No frills, but complete. Elegant. Intuitive. Conforms to Cole/Haag standards.
Did I mention that it's completely FREE OF CHARGE? You spend nada. Zilch. Bupkes.
I've always liked OOo's open-source philosophy.
I like the fact that OOo can run on just about any platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris.
I like the fact that OOo's suite of programs will handle all my spreadsheet, presentation, math, database, image processing, etc. needs.
I like the fact that OOo is familiar; it looks and feels like software from Microsoft or Apple.
I like the fact that OOo can seamlessly import/export files in a boatload of formats, including all the popular versions of Microsoft Word.
I like the fact that OOo 3 can even open that new .docx crap.
I like the fact that OOo was chosen to replace Microsoft Office on the 58 public computers at my local library.
I like the fact that OOo will automatically pop out a PDF whenever I want.
I like the fact that OOo Writer is now the only full-featured word processor that will easily format a screenplay at no cost whatsoever.
And I really like being a part of this effort to help aspiring screenwriters save their hard-earned dough.

Here's a step-by-step primer for obtaining the template, which contains complete instructions, along with other goodies:
1) Download and install the latest free OpenOffice.org suite.
2) If you have a slow connection, make sure to use the "md5sums" link on the right of that download page, in conjunction with a download manager program (I used freedownloadmanager.org and clicked Advanced, Integrity).
3) Then download the free scr2.ott template by clicking the "Get it!" button, below.
4) Save the template in OOo's Templates folder. I put mine here:

In my work I often use OOo for publishing booklets,
small magazines and so on. And in order to give
the text nice look I alwayse needed to use fontspacing
and linespacing. And you know, you have to open the
appropriate dialog, make changes and then close it
to see the result. It takes much time.
This small macro does the same job (even better,
for fontspacing it uses not only the decimal values,
but also half of decimal), and you see your changes
immediately.
It opens a small window where you can choose your
fontspacing and linespacing values. Not all range of values
you can use. I put there only those, which have the sence
for desktop publishing, that changed text was not much
different from usual text. So it works in fontspacing from
-0.5pt to 0.5pt, and in linespacing from 80% to 150%.
Unfortunately, I don't know yet how to make it working in frames.

odt2pml is WYSIWYG, within PML limitations: format your Writer document as you like, and eReader will show it with nearly the same formatting. That includes character and paragraph styles, page breaks, chapter headings, footnotes, frames, images and direct formatting (bold, italic, subscript, ...). Tables are not supported.
You may enable direct calling of DropBook in order to get a .pdb file ready for eReader (only on Linux and Windows).

eTOK exports out of OOo-Writer documents an eTOK-eBook consisting out of HTML-pages with JavaScript, that can be browsed like a printed book, enriched with different drag & drop quizzes, multiple choice tests, image shows etc.

Das eTraining Operating Kit ist aus Sicht des Autoren ein Programm zur Erstellung von eTrainingprojekten, auch als webbasiertes Training (WBT) oder eLearning bezeichnet. Darüber hinaus eignet sich eTOK ebenso zum Erstellen von interaktiven Applikationen für Marketingzwecke, Werbematerial, Vertriebsunterstützung und technische Dokumentation.
Aus technischer Sicht ist eTOK eine OOo-Anwendung, geschrieben in OOo-BASIC und JavaScript. eTOK wird als Bibliothek in den Makrobereich von OOo integriert. Die Quelltexte sind frei zugänglich - eTOK ist also ein Open Source Projekt und kostenlos.
Was macht eTOK?
eTOK erstellt aus Textdokumenten von OOo ein eTOK-Projekt aus HTML-Seiten mit JavaScript, das wie ein gedrucktes Buch geblättert wird und um die interaktiven Möglichkeiten "klicken & ziehen"-Quiz, Tests, Bilderschauen etc. Quiz und Tests sind die tragenden Säule, um einen Wissensstand abzufragen und gezielt zu reagieren. Der Test ist eine Erweiterung des Quiz mit einer Bewertung nach Punkten.

As a result of the conversion, the text cells will become real numbers, and then will be counted in formulas Calc.
Calc does not use numbers formatted as text. Other spreadsheet programs may well do that in certain circumstances.
This extension adds the tool bar 'CT2N' to Calc only. The screen shot shows it all.
Available languages: Spanish, Swedish, Russian, French, English and Dutch. Translations for other languages would be gladly accepted.
Pls note: We get requests about all kind of clean-up actions, that can be necessary when copying data from a website. These are not the original problem that this extension addresses. However, since it would make a good extra functionality, we kindly thank for this input and plan the ideas for a future version.

In this template, the following are accounted for

attendance
For midterms:
In each midterm, a letter grade is assigned to each answered question. (Note: There is no A+)
Questions #1 #2 #3 are worth 15%.
Question #4 is worth 55%.
As each letter grade is entered, the spreadsheet translates / converts them into decimal grades.
For the ranges, see, for instance, cell C3 in Sheet 'Section1'.
The decimal grades are then averaged and translated into letter grades.
For assignments:
Each Assignment is translated into a decimal grade, but it is not used.
For attendance:
According to how much a student missed classes, a letter grade is entered.
To calculate overall grade:
In this template,
attendance counts 10%
assignments count (each) 5%
each midterm counts 20%
Each
letter grades of the midterms
letter grade for attendance
letter grade for assignments
are then converted into decimals
averaged
and the decimal is then translated into a letter grade.
