Compose Special Characters lets you type two or three characters and then run a macro to convert them into a single accented or special character. Writer and Calc are currently supported.

You can also use a dialog to insert any supported character. The dialog lists all supported characters and the character combinations you use to compose them - once you know the character combination you need for any particular character you don't need to use the dialog. The characters are categorised in the dialog for easier reference.

To open the dialog choose Compose Character... on the Insert menu (Insert > Compose Character...).

You can assign the macro to Alt+Shift+Z using a button on the dialog, or you can manually assign it to whatever key combo you choose via Tools > Customise... > Keyboard.

HOW TO USE

For Text documents:

Type the two composing characters and run the ComposeSpecialChar macro.

For Spreadsheet documents:

Type "¬" plus the two composing characters, then run the ComposeSpecialChar macro. A flag character is required in Calc because currently there doesn't seem to be any way to identify in code where the insertion point is in an OpenOffice spreadsheet cell. Since you might want to insert a special character anywhere in a cell, not just as the last character, the flag character is necessary.

After installing the extension you'll need to close OpenOffice then re-open it to see the new Compose Characters... menu item on the Insert menu.

- Alphabetical order of images (could be important for linux users)
- Human sort available (also for linux users)
- Dialog window to manage chosen images (change order, remove, add, preview, insert blank slides for titles)
- Add images to existing presentation
- Possible to choose images by folder, by images or by perl-like regular expression (case sensitive)
You should know that by default presentation doesn't embed images, it just saves links to them. You shold take care of it yourself (for example save in ppt format).
Extension is in english. If you want to translate it or have other questions, you can write me to address kord123@yahoo.com . It works fine with OO 2.3, other versions need checking.

This package of four extensions includes spellcheckers and hyphenators for several languages and a thesaurus and a grammar checker for Hungarian. All of our tools are powered by the high quality language engines created by Morphologic.

Detailed contents of this package include:

EuroOffice Spellchecker for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Hungarian.

EuroOffice Hyphenator for English, German, Polish and Hungarian.

EuroOffice Thesaurus for Hungarian.

EuroOffice Grammar Checker for Hungarian.

While these features can already be found in OpenOffice.org (with the exception of the grammar checker), we believe that our extensions are a step ahead with the high quality language engines created by Morphologic and a few innovative features:

An important feature of the Hungarian thesaurus is its ability to properly recognize and manipulate words with suffixes.

Our grammar checker is tightly integrated into OpenOffice.org (or EuroOffice), and marks errors with green underlines and enables you to fix them by right clicking.

The price of EuroOffice Language Tools Professional is €9.90 for a limited time as an introductory offer.

For more information please visit our web site.

Shortly: It opens small window where you can change in some degree fontspacing of current paragraph or selected text and linespacing of paragraph(s) and immediately see the results.
Doesn't work in any frames!

Hi all!

In my work I often use OOo for publishing booklets,
small magazines and so on. And in order to give
the text nice look I alwayse needed to use fontspacing
and linespacing. And you know, you have to open the
appropriate dialog, make changes and then close it
to see the result. It takes much time.

This small macro does the same job (even better,
for fontspacing it uses not only the decimal values,
but also half of decimal), and you see your changes
immediately.

It opens a small window where you can choose your
fontspacing and linespacing values. Not all range of values
you can use. I put there only those, which have the sence
for desktop publishing, that changed text was not much
different from usual text. So it works in fontspacing from
-0.35pt to 0.35pt, and in linespacing from 80% to 120%.
Unfortunately, I don't know yet how to make it working in frames.

Feel free to use it and share this tool.
Any comments and suggestions (and moreover program code,
for it is the top of my current knowledge of OO Basic) send to
serhiy_k at meta dot ua

This macro is the part of macroset "Типографика для ООо"
(OOoTypographica_0.7),
which has more features for publishing, but useful only for
Russian-Ukrainian Grammar.

This is an update of the macro created by Alexej Kryukov and available at http://www.ooomacros.org/user.php. Credit for the original creation should go to him.

The macro library is now packaged as an extension and takes advantage of the latest installation features.

It now displays a menu icon in Tools\Add-Ons.

It is also updated to reflect the fact that the longer "history list" no longer exists and just the recent files "pick list" remains.

A counting error in Sub PickField_Change() which was either a bug or caused by changes in OOo has been fixed.

I have increased the version number to 2 as versions 0.2 and 1.0 were previously used in the US and Russian language text, respectively.

For midterms:
In each midterm, a letter grade is assigned to each answered question. (Note: There is no A+)
As each letter grade is entered, the spreadsheet translates / converts them into decimal grades.
This toolbar continuously displays translations for the word under the cursor in a text document and provides other useful features. The professional version includes more dictionaries, supports more formats and has more features than the free version.

Look up a word in the dictionary by placing the cursor on that word in the document or type the word in the first dropdown box in the toolbar.

Dock or undock the toolbar to find the most comfortable way of using it!

You can just read the translations or even replace the word with a translation with a single click!

When replacing a word, the cursor moves on to the next word,
providing a way to quickly create a "raw" translation of a sentence.

EuroOffice Dictionary Professional comes with dictionaries for English, German, French, Italian, Hungarian, Polish, Spanish and Dutch. See a detailed list of dictionaries and word counts.

Adding new dictionaries or replacing the included dictionaries is easy! They are simple CSV files!

State-of-the-art stemming for Hungarian, and basic stemming for English.

Exclusive to the professional version are the following features:

Add new words to the dictionary with a single click! (Key presses for entering the translation are of course inevitable.)

Multi-word expressions can now be looked up. Just move the cursor to the first word in the expression!

Parts of compound words can be looked up by moving the cursor inside the word.

Merge dictionaries as easily as you add them!

DICT server file format support means you can now import a large number of freely available dictionary files. Some files in this format are available at the DICT project website, with many more available at the FreeDict project website (on this page in particular).

Use the new Dictionary Manager to see a list of your dictionaries, edit or remove them and install new ones!

Try the free version before your purchase! The Sun Presentation Minimizer can optimize the image quality size. Presentations designed for screen or projector do not require the same high quality as presentations designed for print.
Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) objects are useful during the presentation design phase but they are up to twice the size of a regular image.
The Sun Presentation Minimizer can replace these OLE objects with images without any quality loss. In addition to reducing the file size, the Sun Presentation Minimizer can remove speaker notes and hidden slides so that you do not publish confidential information by mistake.
The wizard summarizes of all of the changes that will be made to your presentation, and gives you an estimate of the file size reduction.
Note ! The Sun Presentation Minimizer also works on Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

EuroOffice Solver Professional provides 4 fast algorithms to solve optimization problems in OpenOffice.org Calc.

The tried and true simplex algorithm performs well on practically occuring cases of linear optimization. All kinds of linear inequalities (<=, >= and =) are supported.

The quadratic solver can find the minima and maxima of functions such as quadratic functions while observing linear inequalities.

The non-linear solver can be used to find the extreme value of any function you can describe in an OpenOffice.org Calc formula and it can still observe the constraints given in linear inequalities!

The Hungarian algorithm solves a completely different class of optimization problems: assignment problems. Useful for deciding on logistics, splitting up work and splitting up cookies! You can read more on Wikipedia.

All of these are demonstrated in our annotated example.

Other features that differentiate EuroOffice Solver Professional include:

Similar in purpose to Microsoft Excel's solver and Optimization Solver, EuroOffice Solver is a step ahead with its innovative user interface.

Store the problem description in cells of a Calc spreadsheet and experiment by changing parameters and watching the solution change accordingly in real time!

Save and load solvers for use in your workflow! Use the Solver Manager to list, edit or delete the saved solvers.

A free version of EuroOffice Solver is also available. Its only limitation is that it only includes the simplex solver.

For installation instructions and further information check our FAQ!

The price of EuroOffice Solver Professional is €9.90 for a limited time as an introductory offer.

EuroOffice Map Chart Professional is a new chart type integrated into OpenOffice.org Calc that makes it possible to visualize geographically related data. Showcase your statistics over detailed maps of any European region!

Color countries according to your statistics in a selection of color schemes!

Display bar or pie charts over the countries to convey more information!

Send the charts to coworkers and clients who do not have EuroOffice Map Chart installed and they will still be able to view them!

Export to Excel or PDF, embed in presentations to amaze an even wider audience!

A title, a legend and captions can make your charts even easier to read!

Tweak and edit the created charts in OpenOffice.org Draw to shape them to your liking – then enjoy them still getting updated as your data is changed!

Unique to the professional version are the following features:

Place custom figures (SVG, JPEG, ODS and most anything else) on the map instead of bar and pie charts! EuroOffice Map Chart Professional can scale them horizontally or vertically to present your data in a pleasing way.

Prepare to go NUTS! NUTS is a European standard for naming geographical regions of different levels such as regions, provinces, districts, states, counties and cantons. EuroOffice Map Chart Professional includes maps of all European NUTS 1, NUTS 2 and NUTS 3 regions as well as 73 of the largest cities in Europe. In case of Hungary, all the 3000+ settlements are included in the database!

Create charts over smaller regions, not just over the whole of Europe as in the free version! You can now create map charts over your country placing pie charts on its regions!

You can also define aliases for regions, pick which borders to show or have the EuroOffice Map Chart Professional find the optimal encompassing area for your chart!

A library of Calc functions.
Functions
This version adds only the SQLREQUEST function to Calc.
SQLREQUEST allows to query a JDBC data source. It is similar to the SQL.REQUEST function provided with MS-Excel.
Being an array function, SQLREQUEST, results in an array containing the data returned by the data source. The online help of Calc includes the "Array Functions" section explaining how to use them.
Examples.
The following is an example of a typical call using the MySQL J/Connector driver:

=SQLREQUEST("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver";"jdbc:mysql://server_ip_address/?user=name&password=abc";"SELECT * FROM table")

Data type conversion issues.
Considering that Calc Add-In functions, by design, only support three data types as return value, the following considerations have been taken:

SQL-Bit and SQL-Boolean are converted to integers (long). This way it is possible to consider zeros as false values, and true otherwise. In other words, the logic is up to you.

SQL-Date values are converted to floating point numbers compatible with the way Calc handles date/time values.

SQL-Decimal values are converted to strings. The advantage of this approach is that the loss of precision that could result by converting the value to a double is avoided. However, the string must be converted to a number before being able to perform numerical operations. This might be accomplished by using, for example,
=VALUE(cellReference)

JDBC advanced data types have not been tested.

Consult the com.sun.star.sheet.AddIn service for further details.
Requirements.

OpenOffice 2.3.0 and later (not tested under earlier versions)

Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0 or later enabled (not tested under earlier versions)

JDBC driver correctly installed

This extension has been tested using the following:

OpenOffice version 2.3.0 (English US and Spanish)

Windows XP SP2

MySQL J/Connector version 5.0.4 (
com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
class)

Future releases
Version 1.1 might add a fourth parameter to allow specifying the desired return type of each column.
This would leave the user the choice of specifying:

If an SQL-Decimal column should be returned as a string (the current behaviour) or to a double

If an SQL-Date column should be returned as a number (the current behaviour) or as a string string.

I appreciate your feedback on this issue to decide the future direction of SQLREQUEST.
This add-in was first released on 02-dec-2007

OOoLatex is a set marcos designed to provide latex support into OpenOffice. The extension contains two mains modules allowing to insert equations as emf or png images, the latex code is saved into the image attribute allowing reedition while simpler equations are expanded into symbol characters and then inserted as regular text.

To use the first module, called Equation, a regular LaTeX and Ghostscript distribution should be installed on your system as well as some mathematical truetype fonts if used with the emf format.

On the other hand, the second module, called Expand, has no other dependency than mathematical fonts use to expand the mathematical expressions.

The extension runs on various operating systems including Linux (intel/ppc), MacOSX (intel/ppc) and Windows in addition to MSys, a minimal Posix system for Windows.

For example:
* a wider set of anchor with the graphic entities (ends, intersection, middle, perpendicular, tangent) ;
* input of absolute or relative coordinates Cartesian or polar ;
* input of the radius, diameters or lengths ;
* an axonometric mode to constrain to horizontal, vertical, 45° direction ;
* draw a circle passing by three points ;
* dimension of radius, diameter, angle, horizontaly or verticaly.

Note: drawing line, circle, arc, ellipse, arc of ellipse, polygon already exist but they were rewritten to benefit from the modes above without replacing the originals.

This Addon was written in python with use of the module pyuno.
The name "CADOO.o" was proposed by Patrick GIMBERTEAU whom I thank.

I wrote this extension to provide an easy way for users to create a list of new candidate words to the existing spellcheck dictionary for their language. Just run the command "List Non-recognized Words" and you will get a list of all the words from your document that are not recognized during spellchecking. After quality-assuring this list (and removing wrong spelling etc.), simply send the document to the people who maintains the dictionary. You can also use it if you want to make a personal wordbook.

There is also a command that makes a complete list with all the words from the document listed alphabetically (no dubleants).

Linguist uses the GUI locale setting to decide which dictionary to use for spellchecking.

From several reasons I chose to write this extension in Python, which was probably not the easiest choice since Python support in OOo is not very well-documented yet. You are welcome to study my code a an example of a simple Python extension.

Unfortunately not all shortcuts are detected by OpenOffice.org. In such a case you need to select the emoticon characters first and then press (F3). Or enable the Insert toolbar (View - Toolbars - Insert) and choos your EmotiKon using the Insert AutoText icon.
