Compatible with OpenOffice 4.x?

The extension WriterRotationTool allows to rotate an image
in a text document using the mouse, like others graphical objects.
The image is transformed into a drawing shape to allow its rotation.

This extension works both in :
* Writer documents,
* master documents,
* XML forms,
* HTML documents,
* database reports,
* database forms.

The version 1.0.2 is a workaround for the bug #116585 which affects both Openoffice.org and LibreOffice 3.3.x.
For any other releases (=3.4.x), we recommend to use the version 1.0.0 of the extension.

The latest version, 1.0.3, is compatible to OO 4.x because it produces the Rotate button again. Download is possible at http://blog.open-office.es/media/blogs/extensiones/Ext_WriterRotationTool/writerrotationtool-1.0.3.oxt

Hello,
Incompatible with AOO 4: toolbar is not displayed because of the change in management.
Thank you to create an extension that displays the mini box of tools with AOO 4.
cordially

@Thibault
Thank you for the detailed explanation.

Previously I didn't knew about possibility to rotate the drawing shape in steps of 15° by holding down the SHIFT-key during the rotation. That's great feature.

Good luck in the further development of the extension.

I noticed that after using the rotation with this extension, most of the tools for image editing stopped work (the buttons became inactive)
Also it is impossible to use cropping extension after rotation.

I think it would be better to add this button to Image toolbar by default.
Also it would be useful to add the buttons of simple rotation (+/-90°) and the button "Discard changes" .
Another variant: to make ability of image blinding to angles 90° and 45° when rotating. Otherwise it is difficult to recover former position of image after rotation.

Hello,

In my opinion it's a bad idea to add this tool to the image processing toolbar because the image is converted to a drawing object. Consequently, this toolbar disapears after the first use.

I'm working on rotation presets, starting from the current state of the drawing shape.
Restore the initial state of the object is perhaps more hard to implement, but I will try to add this in a future release. Meanwhile, please use the Undo feature of OOo.

Regarding your last request, it is possible to rotate the drawing shape in steps of 15° by holding down the SHIFT key during the rotation. Does that approximates what you need ?

Thibault.

Excellent! What I don't understand is:

1- Few people know this extension
2- Why isn't immediately installed with open office

Thank you.

Preset would be really welcome.

Hello,

Few people know this extension because it is very recent.
Actually this feature is planned for a next version of OpenOffice.org but not before the 3.5 (see http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Features#Features_planned_for_OOo_3.x).
I created this tool meanwhile this is done.

Thibault.

nice extension

it 'd be perfect if you add some rotation presets mainly 90 degress on the left and 90 degrees on the right

your extension helps with this old OOo issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3545

other users would like to have +90° and -90° presets in your extension.

i think about a "right click popup menu" when you select the image to rotate

Hi,

I think it should be feasible.
Thanks for the feedback.

Thibault.
