Albaby chkurAlba is an extension for OOo Writer. It simplifies work with documents, containing pages with different layouts. The window with options for inserting pages with a landscape or portrait layout opens after choosing menu item "Insert" - "Landscape/Portrait..." This extension creates pages with styles "_style_ L_Alba" (for landscape pages) and "_style_ P_Alba" (for portrait pages) and manages them. OOo version 2.4.0 and higher recommended. Instalación
1. Abrir "Writer" de OpenOffice.org
2. Dar clic en el menú "Tools" (Herramientas), submenú "Extension manager" (Administrador de extensiones)

4. Esperar a que la extensión se instale
Utilización
La extensión crea un nuevo submenú llamado "Landscape/Portrait"
Dicho submenú es accesible a través del menú "Insert" (Insertar)
Hay varias formas de cambiar la orientación de una página, pero la que resulta más sencilla es la siguiente (opinión personal):
1. Seleccionar el texto que se requiere colocar en una hoja con diferente orientación (Ej. Si el documento se encuentra en una hoja vertical, elegir el o los párrafos que deberán incluirse en una hoja horizontal).
2. Ingresar al submenú: Insert->Landscape/Portrait
3.En la ventana que se abra, elegir la opción "Create a landscape page from the selection"
Si el texto seleccionado se encuentra en una página horizontal, la leyenda correspondiente será "Create a portrait page from the selection"
4. El texto aparecerá en la orientación deseada, por lo que sólo resta verificar si hay algo que deba arreglarse de forma manual.

page orientation
will alba allow me to change a page orientation to landscape and still have the header and footer for that page in portrait format because the rest of the document is in portrait ?
i need to have all headers and footers consistent.
only the "big table" sections need to be in landscape.
any suggestions / comments / guidance is much appreciated.
i am downloading oo 3.0 i was using oo 2.1 but i guess alba will not work with that version :(

Alba works with OOo3.0
Alba works with OOo3.0. So you can download Alba and try it. Alba will not change your text, headers, footers etc. All that will be changed is page orientation :)

Page format A3
I have discovered, trying, that once inserted a Landscape page with Alba extension, you can easily change the format of only that page, for example from A4 to A3. This is very useful, in my experience, because it allows you to enter, into a standard document with, for example, pages in A4, one or more horizontal sheets of A3 size, with large tables or drawings. With Alba it's very simple, without Alba I never was able to do it!

It's great in my opinion. With Alba you can do, with one or two mouse click, something that is very difficult to do with OpenOffice Writer: change the page orientation of one or more pages inside a document.
I often have to insert, within a document, pages that contain perhaps horizontal large tables or drawings, and it's very very difficult to do. With Alba it's a matter of a few mouse click!!!
