German dictionary, hyphenation patterns and thesaurusby OpenOffice.org - deutschsprachiges ProjektThis extension will add spellchecking dictionaries, hyphenation patterns and thesaurus for German (locales: de-DE, de-AT, de-CH). The extension is build from other ressources, means I do only "publish" existing dictionaries but not maintain them. Theasurus is taken from OpenThesaurus project (see website for information how to help with the thesaurus). Spell checking dictionaries are taken from Björn Jacke's ispell/myspell dictionaries. These are the "official" sources for the dicitionaires that have been shipped with OOo 2.x. License: opensource | Read license Further product information: Product details

Words missing
I still have the feeling the dictionaries of OpenOffice are not quite as good as the ones from Word - sorry: words are missing in the dictionary as well as thesaurus, compound words are often not recognized.
The Austrian and Swiss parts do not know specific local expressions: e.g. "Semmelknödel" - though "Semmel" and "Knödel" are known.
If I can help to add words... but I do not know anythng about programming...
Regards

Ok, thank you, perfect - but
Ok, thank you, perfect - but will this extension then also be constantly updated?
Updates of this extension
At the moment, I'll try to do so. But I'd be happy if someone could take care about this.
More frequent updates are not only important for this extension but also for the dictionaries that ships with OOo. If you like to help with this, please join the project mailinglist (dev@de.openoffice.org).
See project member information for more information about how to join the project an mail disussion on dictionariesat our mailing list.
