OO Pinyin Guide is a Java extension for OpenOffice 3 or higher. It enables the user to add pinyin transliteration over chinese characters inside a text document. This tool can be useful for people learning or teaching chinese.

It is an extended version of the "Asian Phonetic Guide" available in OpenOffice. The improvement is that OO Pinyin Guide will help the user by automatically filling in the pinyin part, and doesn't require to type it by hand.

Comments

When I upgraded from 3.3 to 3.4 the extension disappeared, so I downloaded again but I can't add it from "Tools->Extension Manager".
I get this: "extension manager an error occured during file opening"

I'm doing this on Mac OS X

Can someone guide me to install it manually?

Or maybe something broke with the new OpenOffice version?

Keep getting an Error message:

"Could not create Java implementation loader"

What should I do?

I got that error in a windows laptop, I downloaded the 3.4 (apache version), I had installed Java 1.7 (oracle version), and got the same error.

I solved it changing the openoffice java version to 1.6 (sun microsystems version) and then installing the plugin:

      Start OpenOffice
      go to "Tools->Options"
click on "Java" and wait a few seconds
      change the version of java
try to install the plugin again

If you need java 1.6 you can get it here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html
The one I had installed is this one: Java SE Runtime Environment 6u21

    Are you using Ubuntu ?

If yes, that error is due to the OpenOffice Java packages/API not being installed by default.
    The package name is "openoffice.org-java-common".

    You can try this:
    sudo apt-get install openoffice.org-java-common

Then try to install the extension again.
