DiaFilter adds support to OpenOffice.org draw to:

  1. import the DIA .dia drawing format
  2. import the DIA .shape drawing template format.
  3. display a set of galleries of the stock DIA drawing templates

Windows version

Hi there,

Will there (and if so, when) be a Windows version of this extension? What needs to be done to make one?

How to use it?

Hi Caolan,

how do I use the .dia import filter? After installing the filter, OOo can neither open .dia files, nor it can insert .dia files as image. How does it work?

Should just work

It should just to use file->open and select a .dia or .shape file

In private communication it seems this problem is affecting Ubuntu, 3.3 Beta from www.openoffice.org works, and >= 3.2.1 from Fedora/RHEL definitely works.

I suspect its a problem with a missing libstlport on Ubuntu x86 Linux

Version 1.7 works under Ubuntu OOo-version

Good news. With your new version 1.7 import also works with the OpenOffice.org version that comes with Ubuntu. Hence this problem seems to be solved.

However, to import a very simple .dia file takes on my computer 2:25 minutes. There is no difference between Openoffice (the version that comes with Ubuntu) and OOo 3.3 Beta1. Version 1.6 was much faster at about 40 seconds for the import.

Since version 1.7 the imported drawing now exactly looks in Draw like it does in DIA. Perfect!
